The actual problem

Nobody refuses to pay. They just... don't.

Late payment is rarely a fight. It's an invoice lost in an inbox, an AP run missed, a follow-up you kept meaning to send. The fix isn't a tougher email; it's follow-through that happens every time.

It's awkward

Asking twice for money already owed feels like an accusation, so the follow-up email gets drafted, softened, and not sent. A scheduled sequence has no feelings; it reads as "how this business runs", not "this person is upset with me".

It's draining

Chasing is repetitive, rule-following work that still costs an owner real hours every week, and it is the kind of work that gets put off precisely because it is unpleasant rather than because it is hard. That is exactly the shape of job software should own.

It gets forgotten

Most "late" invoices were never refused; they were forgotten, by their AP department and then by you. The week you're busiest is the week the chasing slips, and the slowest payers are the ones who notice.

How it works

From a CSV to a chasing machine, in one sitting

No demo call, no implementation project, no integration prerequisite. Import what you have; the system takes it from there.

  1. 1

    Import your invoices

Upload a CSV from any invoicing system, connect Stripe, or add invoices by hand. No accounting-platform integration required to start.

  2. 2

    See who owes what

Aging buckets, DSO and the overdue list are computed from your data the moment it lands, with the biggest, oldest balance flagged as the place to start.

  3. 3

Put overdue invoices on a sequence

The default ladder sends a heads-up before due, a friendly nudge at 3 days late, a firm second notice at 14, and a final notice at 30. You approve it before anything sends.

  4. 4

    Replies come to you

Reminders carry your reply address, so answers land in your inbox where a human should take over. Every send is logged against its invoice.

The trust model

Built to show its work

Sequences that escalate on a schedule

A heads-up before due, a friendly nudge at 3 days late, a firm second notice at 14, a final notice at 30. You approve the ladder once; it climbs itself, and it stops the moment an invoice is paid.

Late fees with the statute cited

The fee engine computes from the terms agreed on your invoice, shows every step of the arithmetic, and puts the relevant state statute and citation next to the result. Where a rule could not be verified, it says verify with counsel, never a guessed number.

Every send, logged

Each message a sequence sends is recorded against its invoice: what went out, when, and which step of the ladder it was. When a customer says "first I'm hearing of this", you have the receipts.

Aging and DSO computed, never typed

The dashboard is derived from your invoice data on every view. Change a payment, and the buckets, totals and DSO move with it. If credit sales are zero, DSO reads undefined, not zero.

An API and MCP server, first-class

The same engine behind the app is a REST API and a hosted MCP server, so an AI bookkeeping agent can run collections the way a good finance person does. Test keys are free on every plan.

The free tools run in your browser

The calculators and the aging report generator call the engine client-side and make no server requests with your data, so the numbers you type never leave your machine. That claim is checkable in your network tab.

Instead of fake logos

We're new. Here's proof of work instead.

No borrowed testimonials, no wall of logos we haven't earned. What we can show you today is the depth of the thing itself: a statute library covering 51 states plus federal prompt-payment law, researched against official sources with citations and honest confidence grades, and a fee engine that derives every number in front of you.

Agents welcome

Callable by your code, or your AI bookkeeper

An AI agent running collections needs the same things a good finance person needs: the aging picture, a defensible late-fee number, and reminder copy in the right tone. Duebay ships the exact engine behind this site as a REST API and a hosted MCP server, and the compute endpoints answer without a key so an agent can try them mid-task.

  • Single-key REST API + MCP server over invoices, aging, late fees, statutes and dunning drafts
  • POST /api/v1/late-fee is keyless (throttled): terms in, fee + derivation + statute citation out

FAQ

Common questions

What does Duebay actually do?

It keeps a live picture of who owes you what (aging and DSO computed from your imported invoices), and chases the overdue ones with an email sequence that escalates from a friendly nudge to a firm final notice on a schedule you approve. It also computes late fees from your agreed terms with the state statute cited, and exposes the whole engine as an API and MCP server for AI agents.

Do I need QuickBooks or Xero?

No. Duebay starts from a CSV export, a Stripe connection, or manual entry, so it works with any invoicing setup. We do not have QuickBooks/Xero OAuth sync yet and say so plainly on the pricing page.

Is the free plan actually useful?

Yes, deliberately. Free tracks 10 active invoices with full aging, DSO, the statement portal, and one-click reminders you send yourself. What free does not include is automation: sequences that send on their own are the paid feature ($29/mo).

Can I legally charge late fees on overdue invoices?

Usually, if they were agreed in advance and within your state's limits. Duebay's late-fee engine computes the fee from your agreed terms and shows the relevant state statute with its citation next to the result. Where a rule could not be verified it says "verify with counsel" rather than guessing. See the 50-state late fee library.

How is Duebay different from Upflow, Chaser, Kolleno or Paidnice?

Mostly in who it is built for. The incumbents are capable platforms priced for bigger companies: unpublished sales-led pricing at Upflow, from £199/mo at Chaser, from €650/user/mo with a €1M turnover minimum at Kolleno; Paidnice is self-serve from $69/mo but requires Xero or QuickBooks Online. Duebay is self-serve, free for a small book, $29/mo flat for automation, starts from a CSV, and ships a statute-cited fee engine plus a documented MCP server nobody else has. Full sourced comparisons are on the /vs pages.

Can AI agents use Duebay?

Yes, as a first-class use case. The engine is available as a REST API and a hosted MCP server; compute endpoints like the late-fee calculation answer without a key (throttled), and test keys are free on every plan. See /developers.
